INFRARED SAUNAS

Infrared saunas are increasingly popular in the wellness community for a number of reasons, including the numerous health benefits and they just make you feel good! What exactly is an infrared sauna? Before we dive into what infrared saunas are for, Infrared sauna installation Scottsdale, we should first understand infrared wavelengths.

In addition to traditional sauna heating, we strategically integrate infrared heaters into the sauna space. This allows for targeted infrared therapy to complement the overall sauna experience, providing additional benefits for muscle relaxation and stress relief.
Infrared Wavelengths
The sun emits a combination of visible and invisible light, and one of the invisible components is infrared radiation.

Invisible infrared wavelengths are what make the sun feel warm (and ultraviolet wavelengths are what make it bright).

Scientists have established that infrared waves are beneficial to the human body, as they increase the body’s thermal energy.  Infrared does this without any of the harmful rays of sunlight.
Near Infrared – is the shortest wavelength but penetrates the deepest. It has the distinct property of not being captured by the body’s water, allowing it to penetrate the deepest to increase your core thermal energy.  Near infrared is associated with photobiomodulation, which directly generates energy within cells by stimulating ATP production.

Mid infrared – wavelengths are also absorbed by water molecules, temporarily increasing circulation through vasodilation, thereby elevating blood flow and temporarily increasing heart rate and overall metabolism.

Far infrared – the wavelength closest to the infrared heat emitted by our own bodies. Far infrared is readily captured by the water molecules in the body and releases its energy. Our bodies actually emit far-infrared wavelengths at about 9.4 microns. Since far infrared wavelengths feel very natural and normal to us, our energy is temporarily enhanced and strengthened.

What Is an Infrared Sauna?

An infrared sauna is best described as a wellness therapy cabin rather than a traditional steam or rock-heated sauna. Radiant heaters do not heat the air around you, but radiate heat that is absorbed by the body. This enables you to slowly warm up and have constant infrared energy all around you.

Infrared saunas use specialized panels that deliver far, mid, or full-spectrum infrared heat. Because the heat works directly on the body, air temperature becomes less important. The infrared energy is absorbed by your body after a short warm-up, which raises the thermal activity and generates a deep, relaxing sweat. Operating temperatures are lower, so that you can enjoy longer, more comfortable sessions while achieving the same results.

Infrared vs. Traditional Saunas

In a traditional sauna, the air is heated first, followed by the body. IR saunas do it differently, by getting the body to produce heat, but heating the air very little. Consequently, infrared saunas are likely to heat the air to a much lower temperature, usually between 115°F and 135°F, while still producing heavy sweating.

This makes infrared saunas more comfortable for many users, especially those who find high heat overwhelming. They are also dry saunas, which many people prefer over steam-based environments.

Another added benefit is that infrared saunas are more power-efficient and need less electricity as compared to conventional saunas. They get hot faster, run more cheaply, and emphasise comfort and relaxation.
